There’s nothing that thrills us quite like the news of a new menu at our downtown favourite, Ostro. The sleek, Britomart brasserie has added some delicious, new dishes to its already triumphant line-up and we couldn’t be more excited.
With a notable seafood spirit, additions like the lobster ravioli comprise succulent fresh lobster meat encased in soft pasta shells, sitting in an exquisite chilli bisque have our appetites whetted. Vegetarians can rejoice, for not just one, but two delectable new meat-free options. The braised cabbage comes complete with saturated spiced capsicum and a mint yoghurt accompaniment, while the roasted eggplant is decorated with swirls of parmesan custard, sprinkled with hazelnuts. There is, of course, no such thing as too many sides and you would be forgiven for ordering them both (we’re not here to judge).
Cult favourites such as the Wagyu beef bavette steak and seared west coast lamb rump still reign over the mains, however, the newly-introduced Harmony pork belly is set to steal your attention. Crispy pork belly is combined with softly charred sweetcorn and sweet green grapes — all doused in a magnificent almond and red wine jus.
