Sidart transitions its famous degustation menu to progressive Indian cuisine

With our love of fine dining eatery Sidart well documented, we’re eagerly awaiting the lauded eatery’s exciting new incarnation.

From mid-July, diners at the acclaimed restaurant will be taken on a gastronomic journey of progressive Indian cuisine. The innovative and flavoursome new menu will showcase some of New Zealand’s finest produce all presented in the sort of contemporary Indian format that chef and owner Sid Sahrawat is so widely celebrated for.

Inspired by the diversity of India’s regional cuisines, spices and flavours, each dish will elegantly fuse locally sourced produce, with Sahrawat’s attention to detail evident across the breadth of the menu.

The new incarnation of Sidart gives Sahrawat the chance to showcase his unwavering passion for Indian flavours by executing them in the sort of elevated degustation experience that Sidart has become renowned for. The menu will include the likes of scampi, kingfish, daikon, mustard seeds, tamarind, almond, pork jowl, butternut, wild garlic and Goan flavours.

Saharwat explains; “the evolution at Sidart reflects my identity as a chef, the journey growing up in India to starting my first restaurant Sidart nine years back. Its new reincarnation showcases my metamorphosis from an Indian chef cooking Kiwi food to a Kiwi chef who incorporates his love for Indian flavours with his passion for Kiwi produce.”

Sidart will offer diners a five-course degustation for $95 per person from Tuesday to Thursday evenings, while the Full Discovery menu, priced at $160 per person is available Tuesday to Saturday. Wine pairings will be available for both options. In addition to this is sure to be a popular Friday lunch offer — a five-course degustation priced at $65 per person.

The new Indian degustation menu will be available from 17th July, with the restaurant open Tuesday through Saturday for dinner and for lunch on Friday.
