A new pint-sized pop-up is bringing killer cocktails and classic Kiwiana bites to the waterfront

This summer, a new pop-up is giving us even more reason to park up harbourside for a spot of wining and dining — not that we needed one. From the team at Viaduct Harbour bar Parasol & Swing, Brolly is a cocktail, wine and food pop-up that has set up shop in their newly re-designed lower level, overlooking the boardwalk and harbour.

Opening today, visitors to Brolly’s cosy, 20-seat space can expect a tasty sharing menu inspired by classic Kiwiana dishes, along with organic and natural wines from New Zealand and Australia, and expertly-mixed cocktails. Wash down pickled mussels, root vegetables and citrus mayo with a house gin martini — orange bitters, lemon oil and a seasoned olive make for a unique take on the classic cocktail.

Also to share is a premium wagyu dish, served with foraged Kōkihi (wild coastal New Zealand spinach); sourdough with charred onion butter; potato and bacon croquettes with chilli; oysters, charcuterie from A Lady Butcher — and Brolly’s take on chips and dip, with a house-made Kiwi onion dip.

An accessible selection of natural and organic wines by the glass and bottle includes sparkling, white, and red varietals, with orange wines and rosés also on offer. Cocktails can be made to drink in or taken to go, for further revelry at home. Running right through summer and during the America’s Cup, pint-sized Brolly is sure to be an enticing addition to Viaduct Harbour’s gastronomical selection.
