Introducing the world’s first Maori speaking dolls

The loveable gang that could teach your kids Te Reo.

Plush and bug-eyed with cartoon features and cheeky smiles, the Pipi Mā gang are the cutest dolls we’ve come across in a while. And, with the ability to rattle off a slew of words, expressions and songs in Te Reo as the world’s first 100% Māori speaking doll too, we’ve come to conclude that they are also the coolest.

Created by a family dedicated to preserving and furthering the Māori language, the dolls are bringing Te Reo into the every day in a kid-friendly and cuddly way. With four dolls in the collection: poi-twirling Pipi, green-haired Hura, bespectacled Tītoki and number-loving Pītau Pōtiki, each of the gang has their own sayings and songs to share. A fun way to introduce the wee ones to Te Reo early on, they normalise the language and celebrate Māori culture, giving our tamariki the opportunity to see it everywhere, “so that it is not merely confined to the classroom or marae” the creators say.

An incredible incentive, we are of the opinion that we have just stumbled upon the finest children’s gift of the year. Cute, cuddly and educational, you can shop the covetable quad on the Pipi Mā website, here. Ka pai.
