Every so often, we find ourselves in need of a New Zealand-centric gift. Whether that be because we’re entertaining foreign friends, looking for presents to take with us on international travels or sending those overseas a taste of home, it can sometimes pose a bit of a challenge. It’s not that the idea of a tourist shop keyring isn’t great, it’s just not what we’re after. Thankfully, The Poi Room has more than enough covetable options to keep us from resorting to such options. Lining its shelves with books, artworks, ceramics, jewellery, homewares and curiosities that are all made by local artists and artisans, any piece you pick up from the boutique is a genuine piece of Kiwiana. Here, we share a few of our favourites.
