Recipe: Nespresso’s Gingerbread Delights

Nespresso's latest Lungo flavour has arrived and it has us dreaming of all things gingerbread.

As the coffee maestros at Nespresso welcome a new permanent addition to their ‘Grands Crus’ range of life-saving coffee capsules, the Envivo Lungo is poised to enliven the senses and help you start the day off right. As the strongest so far in the Lungo range, the sumptuous flavour of this dark-roasted blend features notes and rich scents reminiscent of aromatic woods and gingerbread. It was mention of this sweet and spicy delight that aroused the notion of some positively soul-warming winter beverages — ones that take us from day to night. From the DELICIOUS Cinnamon Speculoos Delight and the downright delicious Gingerbread Martini, we’ve compiled two recipes that will knock your socks off and appeal to your seasonal preferences. 

Cinnamon Speculoos Delight
1 capsule Nespresso Envivo Lungo
1 tsp Speculoos spread (this delicious gingerbread spread can be purchased here)
120 ml milk
120 ml cinnamon syrup
Chocolate shavings to garnish

Scoop the Speculoos spread into the cup. Extract the Envivo Lungo capsule as a 40ml espresso and mix together with a spoon. Froth the milk separately before adding the cinnamon syrup to, then pouring into the glass. Garnish with chocolate shavings.

Gingerbread Martini
1 capsule Nespresso Envivo Lungo
45 ml Belvedere vodka
30 ml Pain d’Epices liqueur (this delicious gingerbread liqueur can be purchased here)
45 ml Kahlua
Whipped cream and gingerbread biscuits to garnish

Combine vodka, Kahlua, Pain d’Epices liqueur and ice in a cocktail shaker. Extract the Envivo Lungo capsule as a 25ml ristretto and add to the shaker. Shake well to mix and strain into a chilled martini or coupe glass. Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream and crumbled biscuit.
