Where We’re Drinking: Meadow

With a fire crackling away in the courtyard, here's where you'll want to get a front row seat this winter.

When five o’clock rolls around these days, and it’s coming down cats and dogs (as has been the case for the last 19 days straight), our requirements for the perfect place to wind down after a hard day’s work have evolved with the change in season. Desiring somewhere local to settle in and rug up next to a fireplace — a home away from home if you will — a recent visit to Meadow found all our evening needs surpassed.

Offering a range of essential snacking options to share amongst friends, the pizzas such as their pulled beef cheek, fermented chilli, sesame and coriander version are perfect for pairing with a few pints of beer. For those wanting to perhaps nibble on cheese, grilled ciabatta and quince over a few glasses of wine, the market cheese board is just the order and is available in two different sizes. Not only that, but there are tapas, bruschetta, lamb sliders, charcuterie at the ready to keep hunger at bay.

What’s more, the crackling fire is regularly stoked so you’ll want to get in quick to get a front row seat. Assuming their winter persona to perfection, we’re rather enamoured with Meadow’s inviting new season environs. With their supremely friendly service and steaming hot offerings that include delicious mulled wine, trust us when we say it’s going to be hard to stay away.
