Given that our overarching theme for the Autumn issue was stepping offline — yes, we acknowledge the irony of us talking about it on here — we wanted to depict, in our main editorial, the private life of a couple existing in a distinctly ‘offline’ environment. A world where screens have no place and days are spent engrossed in the written word. Shot beautifully by Mara Sommer and Petra Leary, ‘A Private Life’ captures the kind of quiet stillness that has become such a luxury in modern life, and expresses the beauty that can be found in contemplative moments.
