The idea of adhering to a ‘monotone’ dress code usually leaves little room for colour. Typically connoting outfits characterised by swathes of black, grey and white its popularity as a dress code is largely down to its ease. But it’s time we challenged our tendency towards this trend and start experimenting with the tones of the moment. Increasingly supported by industry heavyweights, labels like Gucci, Dior and Louis Vuitton have all embraced a move toward intense pigment (Vuitton even made ‘rainbow’ the subject of its recent menswear runway) and while you might think that wearing bright green will make you look sickly or that orange will clash unflatteringly with your skin tone, if worn in the right pieces, this couldn’t be further from the truth.
