Cashmere cardigan with horsebit from Gucci

Embrace the cardigan trend with these stylish and sophisticated knits

Cardigans are having a moment. For us here in New Zealand, the versatile knit is the perfect trans-seasonal layering piece as we (hopefully soon) move towards warmer days, while overseas many are people are still spending much of their time at home, with the cardigan proving a comfortable loungewear piece.

Cropped iterations in particular are trending — however this doesn’t need to mean short and tight. Opting for a thicker knit and more relaxed fit is a way to ensure it hangs in a chic, effortless way. Many cardigans are also incorporating statement sleeves, and eye-catching prints.

A cashmere cardigan paired with vintage jeans or a pair of beautifully tailored trousers is an ultra-sophisticated look, especially when styled with a beautiful pair of earrings and necklace.

Play with proportion with an extra-long cardigan — pairing one with more fitted pieces underneath is a good way to make sure it doesn’t swamp you.
