New In Store: Punk… but pretty

Softly spoken and notoriously organised, we didn’t think it would be Alexander Wang to draw us into the realm of punk fashion. But doing just that, and doing it oh-so-well is the New York designer’s new ready-to-wear collection. Tipping his hat to rebellion, the ragged range is diet punk — a wearable take on the trend. Studs, leather, tartan and mohair reign, but by partnering them with impeccable tailoring and premium finishes, Wang has kept the collection from falling into full on Sex Pistols style. A line that the designer says, “deliberately opposes standard definitions of beauty and taste”, we don’t know if we’d agree. Sure, some of the pieces are more weekend than work day, but those heels? That bag? Those boots? They look pretty good to us.

The new Alexander Wang ready-to-wear is arriving now at Workshop, to peruse the collection, see here.
