‘The Breaker Upperers’ is set to be New Zealand’s hit comedy film of the year

After charming the pants off Hollywood with his unflappable, antipodean disposition when directing Thor Ragnarok, Taika Waititi is setting his sights closer to home with his collaborative comical feature The Breaker Upperers. The auteur has teamed up with local producers and the acclaimed comedic talents of Madeleine Sami and Jackie Van Beek. Together, the pair run a questionable business of breaking up with people for money (see trailer below). With its world premiere set to unfold at the prestigious SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, in two week’s time, there’s no denying The Breaker Upperers is pegged to be the Kiwi comedy of the year.

The Breaker Upperers will be in cinemas on 3rd May.
