Twenty-two years on from when Genevieve Becroft, with the help of her friend Lenore Sumpter, held the inaugural sculpture exhibition in her very own backyard, NZ Sculpture OnShore is back for its highly-anticipated 11th biennial. The beloved outdoor sculpture exhibition, serving as a fundraiser for NZ Women’s Refuge, will once again use the Hauraki Gulf as its stunning backdrop while over 100 incredible sculptures and light and sound artworks will descend fleetingly, from the 10-20 November, upon Fort Takapuna Historic Reserve.

The outdoor extravaganza will play host to an endless list of both established and emerging artists resulting in a breadth and diversity that allows for crowd-pleasing whimsicality as well as artistic risk. Keep an eye out for works from veteran sculptor Aaron McConchie as well as one of our favourites, Ed Bats, and the likes of Angus Muir, Peter Brammer, Audrey Boyle and Claire Sadler.

With the objective of raising much-needed funds for NZ Women’s Refuge, the diverse collection of contemporary sculptures also includes an indoor art shop showcasing and selling smaller works of art that are worth a look in. With a post-sculpture pit-stop to be had at the Officer’s Mess Cafe, this is an awe-inspiring artistic showcase not to be missed.
