Artist on the rise: Jake Feast descends upon Allpress Studio for a new exhibition

Here at Denizen, we’re always on the lookout for new talent, especially when it comes to art and Auckland-based abstract artist Jake Feast easily meets the criteria. He has already garnered plenty of attention for his mixed-media works which employ a technique of pouring resin along with mediums like alcohol ink, watercolour and Resene paints for an enticing, marble-like effect. However, his latest exhibition showing at Auckland’s Allpress Studio from 10th-18th June will see Feast show another side of his creative practice.

In Our Eyes is set to be far less abstract and much more articulate. Teaming up with fellow creative Sam Dean to play with the idea of messaging and language around flippant and clichê aspects of Kiwi life, Feast delves into the ideas of ownership and authenticity — all without being too serious. The two will combine forces in a flurry of graphic design and illustration that is both playful and thought-provoking.

In Our Eyes will be showing at Allpress Studio from 10th-18th June.
