A group of pragmatic denizens have organised an unforgettable party to raise the necessary funds.
The Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is a world-class asset we often take for granted. For a building that has been awarded The World Building of the Year Award at the prestigious World Architecture Festival, not only is it an international beacon for locals to acquaint themselves with Aotearoa’s most important art, but also a calling card for some of the world’s most talked-about exhibitions.
Of late, however, it has come to our (and much of the public’s) attention that the gallery is facing some serious funding shortages. But instead of lamenting the situation, a group of pragmatic denizens have organised an unforgettable party to raise the necessary funds that will go towards keeping the amazing people who work at the gallery where they need to be. ‘Kaleidoscope’ will be held on the eve of Wednesday 22nd November, from 7pm till late, with original live music and DJ sets by Jaime Haines playing to a like-minded crowd of Auckland’s cultural champions. The line-up will also feature musician brothers Nathan and Joel Haines, who will play original compositions written in response to paintings by New Zealand’s great Modern Abstract artist, Gordon Walters.
Complemented by plenty of food, drink, and dancing, the evening will set the scene for a dynamic night of discovery and celebration. As such, if you are a supporter or champion of Auckland’s visual culture, Kaleidoscope is where you will need to be next Wednesday night.
‘Kaleidoscope’ tickets are $175pp and are available to purchase here. All tickets sold will do the very important job of supporting the work of Auckland Art Gallery via the Auckland Art Gallery Foundation.
