Light Show

Prepare to be blown away by the brilliance of this lighting fantastic.

In a multi-sensory experience that resulted in a sell out season at London’s Hayward Gallery, a series of cutting-edge lighting technologies have been installed at the Auckland Art Gallery for the long-awaited Light Show exhibition commencing this month. The standout display utilises the medium to create intangible sculptures and atmospheric installations that are quite simply out of this world.

Engrossing, provocative and the first visual feast of its kind to hit our shores, patrons will witness a fascinating manipulation of colour, intensity, projection and perception. Featuring everything from immersive, rare light spectacles not seen for decades to visually stimulating artworks re-created especially for the showcase, this is a fluorescent extravaganza not to be missed.

The mesmerizing light-based art show will bring together some of the world’s most brilliant artworks from the likes of David Batchelor, Jim Campell, Olafur Eliasson, Jenny Holzer, Ann Veronica Janssens, James Turrell, and New Zealand’s very own Bill Culbert, culminating in a brilliantly hypnotic light exhibition that will enthrall the senses and dazzle even the most jaded of art lovers.

The exhibition has now finished.
