While the rumour mill has been busy that the already-underway redevelopment of Newmarket’s Westfield shopping mall will bring with it Auckland’s first David Jones, this morning it was confirmed. What is set to be a world-class retail and lifestyle destination, not dissimilar to Sydney’s Centrepoint shopping plaza, has been unveiled in the above video. Alongside David Jones, there will be 230 new specialty stores that mix new-to-market brands with coveted international designers and an extenstive food precinct. Fair to say, Auckland’s retail horizon is looking a whole lot brighter.
