It’s avant-garde Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama’s calling card: a white room smothered by a sea of rainbow coloured dots, otherwise known as The Obliteration Room, and it’s coming to the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki this weekend. Recently named the world’s most popular artist, beating out the much-hyped Jeff Koons and Damien Hirst, her participatory installation was last seen on New Zealand soil at Dunedin’s Public Art Space in 2016. The exhibition invites one and all to the Gallery’s Creative Learning Centre to make a mark on her ever-evolving, kaleidoscopic work.
Obliteration Room opens this weekend (Saturday 9th December).
