Veuve Clicquot’s Hotel du Marc has a somewhat legendary reputation. An invitation-only hotel in Reims, France, it was originally the home of Madame Clicquot, the 27-year-old widow who transformed the Champagne Maison from a business to an empire. A woman known not only for her love of effervescence but also the frivolity that comes with it, it has been the setting of many illustrious parties, gatherings and risqué get-togethers over the past few centuries. Emulating a little of that elegance and uninhibited indulgence this winter, Hilton Hotels & Resorts is set to open rooms inspired by the famed French accommodation at its Auckland, Lake Taupo and Queenstown hotels and resorts.

Designed to reflect the nuances of the Hotel du Marc, the project will see three rooms transformed into a world first experience. A relaxing escape, the generous spaces, which have been curated by Michelle Halford of The Design Chaser, will observe an elegant aesthetic that merges classic sophistication with contemporary design. And though the interiors are still a closely guarded secret, we can only assume they will work to emulate the sumptuous ambience of the original (pictured above).

With (of course) Champagne on arrival, exquisite food and champagne pairings available at each of the restaurants and further ‘Clicquot twists’ promised, the Madame Clicquot-inspired rooms at the Hilton hotels and resorts will capture a taste of the Hotel du Marc glamour, with one exception — there is no invitation required.
