Sofitel’s second coming — the luxury Wellington hotel reopens

For a refined stay in Wellington, there really is no better option.

When Sofitel cut the ribbon on its decadent new Wellington hotel in July last year, it was to the delight of locals and tourists alike. A welcome luxury addition to the city, the hotel temporarily closed after a kitchen fire. Now, the inner-city destination is ready to open its doors once again and pick up where it left off, offering guests a place to relax and enjoy in a refined environment with a sophisticated ambience.

Sitting just down the street from the Beehive, surrounded by some of our capital’s top attractions, the hotel caters to guests visiting for both business and pleasure. The indulgent interior blends Wellington’s local design spirit with a charming French flair. Inspired in part by the exquisite Jardin du Luxembourg, a botanical theme runs throughout, bringing rich texture and colour to the 129-room hotel.

Inside the rooms and suites, the elegance is amplified with beautifully appointed spaces that embrace darker tones while opulent gold, bronze and velvet features help to create a calm retreat from the bustling city outside.

Celebrating its return with a series of guest speakers, live music and dining events, the Sofitel Wellington is officially back in business. Perhaps a visit to the capital is in order?
