This Tel Aviv penthouse offers urbane, timeless architecture at its best

This small yet complex renovation of a duplex apartment was an especially challenging project for the minds behind it, Pitsou Kedem Architects. The objective was to instil some architectural meaning into the penthouse which was located in a generic and uninspired multi-story building, located amongst a row of similar structures in one of Tel Aviv’s bourgeois neighbourhoods.

Calling upon modern values and raw form, the Israeli firm created an urbane residence with a material palette that speaks volumes. The staircase creates a dramatic cross-section across the apartment, linking different levels and allowing light to penetrate via the skylights built into the upper level. The restraint and scale of the apartment design avoiding the use of gimmicks, categorising it as a perfect example of ‘timeless architecture’.
