This converted bunker is the ultimate bachelor pad

Nothing speaks of masculinity more articulately than a concrete abode, let alone one that was formerly a World War II bunker. Located in Hamburg’s Ottenson neighbourhood, the once impenetrable air raid shelter — its walls four metres thick in concrete — once provided refuge for patients and staff of the maternity hospitable located opposite. Now, however, it has been transformed under the adroit vision of Stephen Williams Associates into a refined, one-bedroom abode fit for a single man (or discerning woman). One of our favourite features has to be the crittall-style glass wall that separates the bedroom from the open-plan living area that is furnished with pieces from the likes of Arne Jacobsen, Eero Saarinen and Cassina might we add. And, if a sojourn to Hamburg is on the cards, this very sexy apartment will be available to rent from March 2017 onwards.
