Making a refreshing change from Singapore’s skyscraper scene is the humble low-rise accommodation, The Warehouse Hotel. Occupying three iconic 19th-century warehouses on the banks of the river in Robertson Quay, the unique structure is the perfect balance between old and new. Designed by Singapore-based firm Asylum, the meticulously restored heritage building — once an illegal distillery, spice warehouse and 80s disco — has been given a new on lease on life. With 37 rooms, the triple-pitched roof makes each suite unique, redefining the term ‘industrial’ by incorporating copper wall pieces in every room, custom-made lighting made of wheels and pulleys in the lobby and contemporary furniture throughout from design houses like Stellar Works. The elegant, warm and inviting boutique hotel has been cutting a fine silhouette in the heart of Singapore’s residential and commercial offerings since opening earlier this year, and it wears its moody, industrial and very cool new identity well.
Stellar Works is available locally at Backhouse.
