The lauded Italian restaurant has risen again in a modernised and more sophisticated version of its former self, reassuming its coveted spot on the corner of Jervois Road and Wanganui Ave.
Celebrated hospitality operator Nourish Group (Euro Bar & Restaurant, Jervois Steak House and Soul Bar & Bistro among others) has come to Herne Bay’s rescue following the closure of The Halcyon by resurrecting Andiamo — a neighbourhood institution renowned for its excellent food, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service — much to the delight of locals. The lauded Italian restaurant has risen again in a modernised and more sophisticated version of its former self, reassuming its coveted spot on the corner of Jervois Road and Wanganui Ave. Embracing the borough’s family-focused nature, the new rendition speaks to Italian simplicity and style that the whole clan can appreciate via a fresh and approachable menu conceived by Nourish’s acclaimed Executive Chef, Gareth Stewart. Authentic pizzas prepared in a newly installed oven, delicious pasta made fresh, on-site every day, and other contemporary dishes will showcase ingredients such as artisan cheeses, salumi, and the very best cuts of fresh fish and meat. Early favourites have to be the upscale macaroni cheese prepared with Lady Butcher’s bacon and chilli and squid ink linguine with Spirits Bay scallops. A full interior refresh has seen the space transformed into a pared-back trattoria; think tasteful colours with a rustic, organic feel, resulting in a comfortable atmosphere perfect for a lively family meal or gathering with friends.
Officially open again from tonight, Andiamo’s return has unsurprisingly garnered a warm welcome from the surrounding residents and beyond. To book a table click here.
