Our go-to spot for a dose of whistle wetting and some straight-up delicious bar grub, Ponsonby Road’s famous Chapel Bar & Bistro has a new menu on the go. Heading their way, early(ish) last Friday afternoon on a quest to sample this newfound cuisine, we were plied with handmade chicken and shiitake dumplings, crispy golden jalapeño and potato bites, venison sliders with aioli and sweet onion jam, and a decadent cajun chicken burger — all perfect for devouring alongside a cold beer or freshly popped bottle of Champagne. That’s right; this is, arguably, bar food at its finest, and in the spirit of getting you along to sample the good times and irresistible fare (because that’s what it is), Chapel is giving one lucky Denizen reader the chance to sample a tasting menu for two on the house.
