Chapel is reborn after a spiffy makeover. Here’s what to expect…

Sure. It definitely wasn’t ‘broke’, but the steadfast Ponsonby watering hole that is Chapel had certainly seen a few big nights over the years, resulting in a well-worn interior that could do with a spruce up. Owner Luke Dallow and manager Warren Stewart were quick to recognise this and subsequently embarked on an effective, three-day makeover that has given the beloved bar a new lease on life.

The light and bright new interior, dare we say it, is a touch more feminine, boasting soft grey walls and tall bar leaners rendered in a crisp light wood that allow those dwelling inside to see and be seen by those outside (this, after all, is the objective of being at Chapel). New outdoor furniture beckons for bigger parties to set up shop on the balcony at the back and partially tiled walls make the whole place feel a lot cleaner.

With the new look, it goes without saying that’s Chapel has also introduced a revised summer menu. Amongst the staple items and delicious ‘hand-stretched’ pizzas, the kitchen has introduced delicious sticky lamb ribs and soft shell fish tacos that make for the accompaniment to whatever you choose to quench your thirst.

Chapel, it would seem, is putting its best foot forward for the busy months ahead.
