The shockwaves of last Friday’s attack are still very much reverberating around the country. But no one will be as profoundly affected in the aftermath as the victims and their families. Ensuring they are supported through this difficult time is something we can all be involved in, and helping the collective effort are Sid and Chand Sahrawat.
The acclaimed hospitality duo behind Sidart, Cassia and Sid at The French Café have decided to host a special lunch on Sunday the 28th of April at their Eden Terrace establishment, where every cent of the $250-a head ticket price will be donated through hospitality charity DineAid directly to Victim Support. The lunch itself is promising a six-course tasting menu curated by Sid and his teams at Sidart, Cassia and Sid at The French Café, who will all be donating their time to the cause. Drinks (including non-alcoholic beverages) will be included in the ticket price.
The afternoon will also see a live and silent auction take place where various hospitality packages donated by chefs and restaurants including Amano, Baduzzi, Café Hanoi, Michael Meredith, Phil’s Kitchen, Saan, Tantalus Estate and many others will be able to be won. These proceedings will be MC’d by broadcaster Kerre McIvor.
“We all want to help,” Sid explained, explaining how he and Chand were horrified by last week’s events, “this is one small way we can show we are united in disbelief and to demonstrate solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Christchurch.”
The lunch will take place on Sunday 28th April at Sid at The French Café from 12pm. Tickets can be booked by contacting the restaurant here. See other ways to help those affected in Christchurch here.
