This Parnell stalwart's Sunday menu has us hankering for barbecue.
With the season of catching up with family and friends for Sunday lunch well and truly upon us, Woodpecker Hill’s Smokey Sundays are ideal. Further extending their tried and true offering of delicious smokey meat, uniquely paired with clean Asian spices, on Sundays, Woodpecker offer a special menu that that is BBQ like no other.
Celebrating classic ole Southern comfort food with platters stacked with slowly smoked short ribs, lamb, chicken wings, and brisket all elevated to a tasty new level thanks to the genius addition of chilli, cumin, smoked paprika and Asian sriracha — this is bold and tasty meat with a fresh Eastern edge.
Each dish is a sticky delectable mess, which is why diners are presented with their own chic bibs designed to help save your dignity when the feeding frenzy gets a little too chaotic. Not straying too far from their Asian roots, the special Sunday menu kicks off with a selection of four varieties of dumplings including the ever in-demand har gow or pulled pork and water chestnut dumplings, followed on by a towering platter of baby back ribs slathered in hot and sticky sauce; an impossibly tender beef brisket; nine-hour smoked beef rib; and cumin-spiced lamb ribs with (praise the chef) the fat left on, and topped off with some of the best onion rings we’ve tasted outside of the US.
To finish the afternoon of feasting, you’d be foolish not to throw yourself into the deconstructed lemon meringue pie and apple doughnuts bursting with miso butterscotch caramel, the menu has been designed to share ‘family-style’ and as dessert proved, many spoons make light work. A hedonistic indulgence, Woodpecker Hill’s Smokey Sundays are a delicious excuse to catch up with friends and family this summer.
Woodpecker Hill’s Smokey Sundays are on every week 12pm – late.
