Is there anything more quintessentially winter than a hearty roast? As the colder season emerges, so too does our burgeoning desire for golden roasted potatoes, succulent slabs of meat, veggies cooked al dente and a delectable river of gravy. Tapping into our need for something a little more substantial this month, the culinary genius behind Half Moon Bay eatery Grangers is upping the ante on the delicious English classic, right when we need it the most.
Serving a modern take on traditional Sunday fare, Grangers is switching up everything you thought you knew about the humble roast dinner. There’s no dry turkey ruling the roost here, meaning that choosing between the meats makes for a tough first call; will it be generous slices of roast pork or a whole succulent duck? A garlic and anchovy studded leg of lamb or mighty cut of beef? The sides have also been treated to a generous slathering of gastronomic know-how, think offal and pancetta stuffing, sautéed cavolo nero, roasted purple carrots and triple cooked Jerusalem artichokes. Of course, all meals are topped off with our favourite bite of Old Blighty, a spiffingly good, fluffy Yorkshire pud.
Kicking off this Sunday 6th May, Grangers Taphouse and Kitchen will begin their winter onslaught of hearty grub, served alongside a great selection of tap beers and live jazz music. We suggest you start spending the last day of the week exactly how it’s supposed to be spent, for what is a Sunday without a roast?
