East Auckland locals and Waiheke Island commuters should benefit from this inviting seaside bistro.
Oozing relaxed seaside charm from its harbourside perch in Half Moon Bay, Grangers Tap House and Kitchen is luring us into Auckland’s East Coast fold. Having already made waves for its excellent casual dining offering, it’s the seafood-oriented fare that has us hook, line and sinker.
An extensive menu boasts drool-worthy lobster and prawn rolls, chilled Maloolaba king prawns, Waiheke Island oysters, seafood linguine, seafood platters, and line-caught fish and chips. Oh, and did we mention the equally encompassing bistro menu? The NZ BBQ pork ribs with maple glaze are enough to draw our attention away from the bounty of seafood on offer along with the enticing spring beet risotto and seared duck breast that didn’t arrive short on flavour.
Grangers’ interior is perfectly suited to its maritime environs, adhering to a blue, white and mint green colour scheme. The restaurant itself is divided into a spacious dining room with ample booth seating and bar area that spills outside onto a sunny deck. It’s here that we can quite easily imagine ourselves returning time and time again to make the most of the yummy cocktails (we’re loving throwbacks like the ‘Marina Mai Tai’) and Asahi on tap.
So, whether you’re an East Auckland local or a Waiheke Island commuter heading to or from the car ferry, we suggest you benefit from this inviting seaside bistro.
