There is something quite beautiful about a plain and simple cheeseburger. The kind with a beef patty, mayo, unfussy lettuce, Swiss cheese, gherkin and red onion. It’s the first thing you’ll find on Hatchburger’s pleasingly straightforward menu, which thereafter gives way to a series of simple yet gratifying items.

The newly minted burger, salad and wrap bar is located on the ground floor of the Bayleys and IBM building on the western corner of Viaduct Harbour. Advocates of ‘good food, made fresh and delivered with a smile,’ we can confirm that this is, in fact, their MO. Extending their burger repertoire (which also features crispy chicken and falafel) to include chipotle chicken and pulled pork wraps as well as two kinds of veggie-packed salads, Hatchburger is the sort of place we can see ourselves turning to most days of the week.

What’s more, they are open for breakfast every day. So when swooping in to pick up your Atomic Coffee from next door, it’s highly advised that you pair it with a ‘Chook Norris’ (marbelised egg, fresh chives, caramelised onions, Sriracha, mayo and smoked cheddar), or a ‘Yolko Ono’ (blistered free range egg, truffle mayo, eggplant relish and baby spinach) to get your day started on the right foot.

Stepping away from fussy to spotlight ‘simple’ instead, it’s fair to say Hatchburger had us at ‘hello’.
