If you’re looking for lunch on-the-go, Ivy & Bean is worth a visit

Tasty cabinet food and decent coffee are the order of the day at this Mount Eden pitstop.

Down the far end of Mount Eden Road (we’re talking past Balmoral Road on the way to Three Kings), food options have always been a little slim. So, when new cafe Ivy & Bean moved in, the locals were quick to visit, and stopping in at the sweet wee spot for ourselves, it’s not hard to see why.

With its bright white walls, wooden floors, high ceiling and window seating, the new eatery is just what the area has been missing. An inviting stop-in whether for lunch or simply an Atomic coffee and cake, it boasts one of the most encompassing cabinet food selections we’ve come across in quite some time. For the sweet tooth, a daily line-up of muffins, cakes, brioche, scones, slices, loaves and cupcakes are sure to satisfy, while the savoury are not left short of options either. Pies, quiches, fritters, wraps, salads and loaded sandwiches are on-hand to keep hunger at bay, with everything made fresh in-house and served to-go.

What we would describe as a refined and delicious new-age take on the tea room, if you’re in the area and after a lunch on-the-run, pull over at Ivy & Bean.
