You don’t want to miss this unique food truck event delivering meals with a purpose

The idea of rescuing surplus food in a bid to combat waste (and in some cases food poverty) is something at the forefront of social justice movements now more than ever before. Last year we spoke at length about Everybody Eats, honouring its founder Nicholas Loosely in our Heroes Issue, while organisations like Kiwi Harvest have been leading the charge in combating our tragically wasteful food systems — the organisation collects good food that would otherwise be thrown away and redistributes it to communities across New Zealand.

Looking to spread their message even further, Kiwi Harvest is partnering with Silo Park to put on Kai with a (Re)Purpose, where five of our favourite food trucks will come together to serve meals made exclusively with food that has been rescued by Kiwi Harvest. A percentage of all sales will be going back into the organisation to help them continue their important work.

With a line-up that includes Judge Bao, The Rolling Pin, Rocoto, Let’s Brezel and Lalele Organic Gelato, the event is set to be both educational and undeniably delicious, where attendees can learn about the crucial importance of reducing food waste, while tucking into the vendors’ tasty treats. So head down to Silo Park tomorrow (Saturday, 16th March) for a food truck experience unlike any you’ve had before.

Kai with a (Re)Purpose will take place in Silo Park on Saturday the 16th of March from 12pm until 6pm. For more information click here.
