The Kingsland oasis is meeting our evening meal needs...
Arriving on the healthy food scene two years ago, Mondays has been the perfect spot for a leisurely brunch in their sun-soaked courtyard after a balancing yoga session at the studio upstairs. Now, after an interior refresh and since the building’s lush leafy coat has burst forth, singing of the warmer months before us, the wholefood authorities have informed us that they have started doing dinner. Better yet, they are also licenced to serve a slew of delightful organic, vegan and biodynamic wines, craft beers and botanical cocktails destined to keep the good times rolling.
The evening menu — as expected — is brimming with good-for-you eats that don’t sacrifice on flavour. To start, give the jackfruit tacos with chipotle, guacamole, apple, fennel, chimichurri and jalapeño a go. But if you’re after something more, the vegan tasting board — quite likely the first of its kind in Auckland — features soft smoked cream ‘cheeze’, pistachio and cumin vegan cheddar, tapenade, hummus, za’atar, olives, onion relish, sesame cumin crackers and sourdough. Alternatively, if it is the Middle East Feast you seek, you have come to the right place. Here, it comes with herbed quinoa tabbouleh, coriander lentils, dolma rolls, green bean salad and pumpkin hummus. For the sweet teeth in the house, the chocolate coconut sundae with coconut ice cream, chocolate bark, ganache, cacao nut and seed soil is the bomb diggity.
Considering the minimal healthy evening eating options available, this Kingsland oasis’ new evening hours is music to our ears. And while you are more than welcome to walk-in, reservations will be taken from 3pm onwards. For larger bookings and functions email info@mondayswholefoods.com.
