Did you know you can make ice cream out of snow? Want to know how?

We always find that the trick to getting through winter is to look for the silver lining. Mulled wine, skiing, roaring fires, winter woollies and more mulled wine, have always been the standout cold season specials, but this year, we have another to add to the mix — Snow Ice Cream.

Granted, it’s an after-dinner delicacy you’ll have to wait to try until you venture south or up the hill, it’s guaranteed to be loved by big and little kids alike. A deliciously amusing way to end a meal that requires just a few staple pantry ingredients — and one from the sky — to give it a whirl just follow the recipe below:

Whisk 1 cup of whole milk, 1⁄3 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence and a pinch of salt in a large mixing bowl then pop it into the fridge. Next, pull on the boots and head outside to gather 8 generous cups of (clean) snow, before racing back and mixing immediately with the sweet vanilla mix. Stir until combined and fluffy, finish with your favourite flavourings (we would recommend chocolate sauce and crushed nuts) then devour… quickly.
