Auckland’s top whisky bar gets set for a feminine makeover

Known, in Gaelic as uisge beatha, or ‘The Water of Life’, whisky is a mighty wonderful drink, but one that is too often associated with ‘the lads’. Changing that up this New Zealand Fashion Week, The Jefferson is celebrating women and whisky, by undergoing a swift gender reassignment and taking on a new persona as ‘The Jane’. From the 29th August till the 2nd September, the underground drinking den will be all about the ladies with a limited edition menu boasting serious whisky cocktails inspired by some of history’s most iconic femmes.

More than just a place to gather the team for a tipple, The Jane will also be hosting an entertaining line-up of events. There will be a Perrier-Jouet Champagne tasting session, an educational ‘Women who Whisky’ tasting class which will teach newcomers everything they ever wanted to know about the elusive amber alcohol; as well as a cocktail masterclass where you can learn to shake it like the best of them. A fun stop in for the firm whisky devotees and novices alike, gentlemen are of course welcome along too. To purchase tickets click here
