The Lula Inn is the newest eatery to open its doors at the Viaduct

Yet another delicious reason to head down to to the waterfront.

It seems we no longer need to purchase a plane ticket to indulge in the traditional fare of the South Pacific islands. Contemporary Pacific food is the latest and tastiest trend to hit our shores, a theme we aren’t upset about. Combine that with the Viaduct Harbour’s newly installed bright lights along with front row sea views and you’ve got a good reason to get yourself down to The Lula Inn.

Taking pride of place in what was once The Crew Club, the fresh new space has been designed with a relaxed colonial charm. Bursting with lush indoor greenery, leather and plush velvet seating, and the ocean lapping right up to within an arm’s stretch of the outdoor area, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were lazing away at the Fijian archipelago inside this picturesque urban oasis.

At the helm in the kitchen is Sam Clark, who is serving up an extensive menu offering from brunch through to dinner and treats with family-style sharing in mind. The menu includes smoked kahawai scramble with cherry tomatoes, or ricotta dumplings with parmesan, kale, almond and kumara, and the roasted lamb shoulder with mint salsa verde. Using fresh New Zealand produce and seafood, Clark has given the islands a tasteful kiwi twist. Simply delicious would be the best way to describe the cocktail menu, which offers up exotic and colourful blends along with all the classics we know and love.

Ensuring we’ve got somewhere to wine, dine and dance to the early hours, The Lula Inn will have live soul and funk tunes playing Thursday to Sunday.

Opening hours:
Monday to Friday: 10am – 2am
