Treat yourself to a taste of Italy at this seven-day Italiano extravaganza

Let’s face it, there’s nobody that can incite a gastronomic frenzy quite like the Italians. With a delectable, carb-centric repertoire and an ability to create truly unforgettable, make-your-tastebuds-dance flavours, it’s the European country’s renowned fare that incites a belly-rumbling like no other, which is exactly why the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World was born. The worldwide, annual event celebrates all things delectably Italiano and following much anticipation, is finally on it’s way to New Zealand. We couldn’t be more ready.

From the 19th to the 25th of November, hungry Aucklanders can find themselves subject to a mouth-watering array of Italian delights, comprising everything from divine degustations to inspiring wine and food matchings. The Italian festivities will be kicking off with an exquisite offering from Parnell favourites Non Solo Pizza, not only will they be serving up a delicious, Mediterranean-inspired two-course lunch menu (at just $45pp, no less) but they will be serving it up every day of the week-long event to ensure nobody misses out on a slice of the action.

For those looking to book specifics into their calendar, there’s more than enough on offer. On Sunday the 25th, for example, NSP will be rounding off the week with a glorious long lunch experience. Traditional food from the region of Campagna will be prepared, delivered and explained by Head Chef Antonio Crisci via a sprawling six-course affair. The delicious lunch experience is designed to be devoured over good conversation and to the sweet sound of musical duo The Love Jones (playing from 12:30-4pm) — all with a fine wine or a cold beer in hand.

Of course, a quality beer with which to wash it all down with is almost as important as the fare itself — and nobody understands this more than those at Peroni. On the Saturday beforehand, anybody who frequents Parnell hotspot Osteria can expect a long day indulging in the cool crispness of the Italian brew, served alongside a selection of lip-smacking Fritto Misto (deep-fried seafood). If that’s not enough to make an afternoon to remember, you can guarantee that DJ Murray Sweatpants hitting the decks will truly ignite the weekend spirit.

With an array of delicious cuisine and a quality beverage or two along the way, you can rest assured that this week-long celebration is enough to have anyone falling in love with the Italian way. In light of the festivities, we’re offering two lucky Denizen’s the chance to attend NSP’s delicious six-course long-lunch, for more information and entry, click here. Now that’s Amore.
