As much as we adore our familiar favourites, we’re always excited when our go-to eateries change up the menu and give us new dishes to fall in love with all over again. Speaking of favourites, Ostro has given us yet another reason to hasten up to its sun-filled space, ringing in the warmer side of the year with a fresh selection of food to delight both taste buds and bellies.

To the raw bar and starter selection, two irresistibly light plates have been added: the first, a kingfish crudo, sees the ultra-fresh fish paired with Atlantic scallops, big eye tuna, citrus, fennel, capers and shallots. A black origin Wagyu carpaccio follows, served with caperberries, potato crisps, pecorino, truffle cream and baby rocket.

Mains have also had an enticing update; from the likes of spinach and mushroom rotolo pasta to Cloudy bay diamond clams with fennel and Nduja broth. Harmony free-range pork cotoletta (a breaded cutlet) is offset with a fresh pineapple mustard, while West Coast lamb cutlets are paired with a fennel salsa verde and spiced hazelnuts.

We always love ordering Ostro’s famous Beef Wellington for a group, however the South Island crayfish with fresh linguine to share has us suddenly craving pasta. Followed with the eatery’s new take on a Ginger Kiss, served with orange curd and vanilla ginger ice cream, or a summer fruit pavlova, we can’t think of a better treat.
